About Courchevel:
Courchevel is a winter sports resort located in the Tarentaise Valley and situated in the municipality of Courchevel (formerly Saint-Bon-Tarentaise), in the Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The first French resort converted into a virgin site in 1946, it is part of the Three Valleys ski area.
The resort is organized around five villages: Saint-Bon-Tarentaise (chief town), Courchevel Le Praz (formerly Courchevel 1300), the village of Courchevel (formerly Courchevel 1500), Courchevel Moriond (formerly Courchevel 1650), and finally Courchevel (formerly Courchevel 1850). This last one, which gives its name to the station, is the first nucleus of development where the work of urban architect Laurent Chappis and engineer Maurice Michaud is applied. This new urbanization of the mountain was listed in the additional inventory of historic monuments in 1998, and about thirty sites are protected as historic monuments.
