Certified by the FFA (French Athletics Federation), the Annecy Marathon will take place on the weekend of April 26 and 27, 2025 for a bigger event than ever. Several races are organized for the occasion:

With a length of 42.195 kilometers, it is the flagship event of the Annecy Marathon and will take place on April 27 with a start at 8:30 AM. With an elevation gain of 86 meters, it will allow you to discover the surroundings of Annecy and test your limits during a legendary endurance event. We give you more details about it below.

Organized on le Pâquier, a square in Annecy renowned for its exceptional gardens, this half-marathon follows the same route as the original race, except that it is half the distance (21.095 kilometers). During the race, you will pass through exceptional sites, such as the Charles Bosson Park with its century-old trees, as well as the Marais de l’Enfer with its abundant vegetation. Note that the half-marathon starts at the same time as the Marathon, at 8:30 AM. Price: €53.

An increasingly popular event among runners, the 10 kilometers of Lake Annecy allows you to discover the shores of Lake Annecy from the city, all on the bike path and pedestrian way. It’s a perfect event if you’re new to running. The start is at Le Pâquier at 9:30 AM and takes you through various green spaces, such as the City’s Vegetable Garden, Charles Bosson Park, and Albigny Beach. Price: €32.

For those who want to perform and work on their running speed, the 5-kilometer event is ideal: on April 26 at 9:30 AM, come and discover the most recent event of the Marathon by getting introduced to running and enjoying Lake Annecy. Price: €16.

Free and open to all young people, this 750-meter race allows children aged 7 to 15 to discover the Marathon and develop a taste for athletics, while being supervised by qualified trainers.

This fast-paced walk originating from Scandinavian countries now fascinates a large number of sports enthusiasts. With a length of 9 kilometers, this friendly event starts with a boat ride on the magnificent Parc de l’Europe and takes participants to the beautiful town of Menthon Saint-Bernard, walking through an exceptional setting. Price: €30.

The Lake Annecy Marathon Course

Since its creation in 1980, the Annecy Marathon has attracted more than 240,000 runners, hence its reputation. Regarding its course, the race starts on the grand Avenue d’Albigny and ends at Le Pâquier. The course uses roads, bike paths, and pedestrian ways. You’ll have the chance to run in an exceptional site between the Lake and Mountains.

The Venice of the Alps will offer you a race crossing exceptional sites such as the Pâquier, considered the green lung of Annecy, the Charles Bosson Park with its century-old trees, the Marais de l’Enfer with its abundant vegetation, and many other wonderful sites. In short, runners will follow the west side of the lake towards Doussard, from where they will return using the same route as the outward journey. Moreover, the time limit for the Marathon is 5h30, so you will need unwavering mental strength to complete it.

Regarding the Annecy Marathon record, you should know that it is held by the Kenyan Kiprotich-Felix KIRUI with a time of 2h11m26s achieved in 2022; for women, it’s the Kenyan Cynthia-Chepchirchir KOSGEI with a time of 2h28m03s, also achieved in 2022.

How to Participate in the Annecy Marathon?

To participate in the Annecy Marathon, it’s very simple: you just need to go to the official Marathon website and register on the waiting list for t “he event you’re interested in, which means you’ll have to wait to” be selected if you wish to participate in one of the most popular marathons in France. However, be aware that you must have been born before December 31, 2005, to run the Marathon. Note that you only need to register for the Nordic walking and youth race to participate in those events.

Finally, be aware that registrations end on April 18, 2025, so hurry if you want a chance to participate!

Once selected, all you’ll have to do is get to Annecy and go to the Marathon village, which is located at Le Pâquier, near the city center.
